SOME ISLAMIC GUIDELINES AGAINST MENTAL CAPACITY BILL(Euthanasia by omission)


ISLAM IS STRONGLY AGAINST ANY WAY(by intention) WHICH ENDS THE LIFE OF ANY PATIENT(direct or indirect,active or passive),AND WHICH KILLS HIM/HER!

BASIC ISLAMIC BELIEFS AND CONCEPTS (AQEEDA):

-ALLAH(GOD) is the Creator of all life.
He starts it and HE FINISH IT.!

He is also the Owner and Author of every life.

-The real life is the AFTERLIFE..!

-Human life is sacred.

-Attempted suicide/overdose,assisted suicide/Euthanasia,and abortion(baby killing) are all forbidden in Islam.
-Any arrangement to end one's life(suicide/or assisted suicide)) is forbidden in Islam,and hellfire is the punishment prescribed according to the Hadith/Saying of the final prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him)

-Any attempt to end the life of a sick or healthy innocent person and by any way is forbidden.(direct or indirect,active or passive/by omission).

-Any action is judged by the intention(NIYYAT),and if the doctor's intention is to end the life of a patient..it is forbidden.
-No doctor,no relative,no MP,no judge or lawyer and no court can decide to end the life of any patient.

-A doctor's job is to protect and save life till the natural ending as fixed by GOD,the Owner of life..when no any medical intervention will help.

-the doctor should provide always the life saving treatment .

-no patient (conscious and aware) should refuse any life saving treatment.No intention of suicide is allowed in Islam.

But a patient can refuse some types of treatment ,with no intention of death. or suicide.

-No muslim and no caring humane doctor should accept any request from any patient who has asked to end his/her life(it is against GOD and Islam,and against good medical practice).
-It is forbidden to accept any advance Directive or a LIVING WILL from any patient
in which there is a request to end his/her life...by a KILLING method!
and definetely no will should be legally binding on any doctor?

The only WILL allowed in Islam is the one related to inheritance..
-Food and water/fluid are basic human right to every one:healthy or sick.
(even it is a right for every animal)

No one should stop it,withheld it or withdraw it, in sickness or in health!
Otherwise one is KILLING the patient by starvation and dehydration!!!
And they are not considered :MEDICAL TREATMENT!!!
(no one is having a medical treatment when eating or drinking!..specially when one is healthy).

-At time of the dying period:no medicine,no food,no fluid and no medicine, will help any one or delay his/her death..

-All these Islamic concepts and beliefs apply to the sane conscious informed patient/person
and it is not allowed to break any if the patient has lost his/her mental power/judgement/thinking/decision....He/she is still the same human being.
He/she should be treated as in normal conscious state.and the relatives can not interfere with any or decide on the ending of the life of the patient who is mentally incapacited.

-There should not be any EXPLOITATION to any mentally incapacited patient,who is unaware or unconscious and can not speak or complaint.

-Mentally incapacitated patients did never give their consent before to deprive them of their basic human survival right and need(food and water).

-No"Court of Protection" or "Lasting Power of Attorney" can take away these basic human rights and which are good medical practice(and according to Islam).
and they have no right to "ACT LIKE GOD" and decide who should live or who should die?

-It is in THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PATIENT:
To help him/her by all means to stay alive,offering the best and most effective medicine and pain killing drugs,arrange many types of counselling,and to try to deal with the underlying motives and reasons and to sort it out quickly.

To facilitate for the patient to go to HELL..! is against HIS/HER BEST INTEREST!
Any suicidal decision/action is a big crime in the eyes of GOD,and is punished only by the HELLFIRE!
To arrange the ending of one's life is a BETRAYAL of GOD and a betrayal to all his/her family and society.

ALLAH(THE GOD) has said in the final Holy Book AL QUR'AN:

In the name of ALLAH,the Most Compassionate,the Most Merciful
-"DO NOT KILL YOURSELVES,FOR VERILY ALLAH HAS BEEN TO YOU MOST MERCIFUL" (chapter 4,verse 29)

-"....TAKE NOT LIFE WHICH ALLAH HAS MADE SACRED"
(chapter 6,verse 151)
-"ALLAH TAKES THE SOULS AT THE TIME OF THEIR DEATH,AND THOSE THAT DIED DURING THEIR SLEEP..."
(chapter 39,verse 42)
-" AND(GOD) IS THE ONE WHO GAVE YOU LIFE,THEN SHALL HE ORDAIN YOU TO DIE,THEN SHALL HE GIVE YOU LIFE AGAIN,TRULY MANKIND IS UNGRATEFUL..."
(chapter 22,verse 66)

The well known Hadith/Saying of the prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him)
"Whoever jumps off a mountain and kills himself/herself,will forever keeps falling down in the depths of hell..!
Whoever takes a poison and kills himself/herself,will forever keeps sipping that poison in hell!
Whoever kills himself/herself with an iron instrument,will be carrying it forever in Hell!!!"
We have to remember also that last month,the big Fatwa,came in Stokholm/Sweden,by the European Council for Fatwa and Resaerch,which PROHIBITED ANY TYPE OF EUTHANASIA (direct or indirect,active or passive),by ending the life of any patient..

FINALLY:
-To legalise the withdrawal of food or fluid from any patient, or to neglect his/her life saving treatment,is EUTHANASIA by omission !!
-To open this dangerous door,it will lead to slippery slope and to a lot of abuse.
Patients will feel under pressure to end their life,it will become in fact a duty to die and to be killed!
-We do admit there is a case to address the social,personnal,psychological and the pressures and spiritual needs and problems of the patients and to sort it out before reaching any drastic decision:TO BE KILLED!

-a lot of counselling will be needed ,and more facilities for hospices are required too and more effective analgesics and pain killing drugs.

But THE MENTAL INCAPACITY BILL SHOULD BE REJECTED BY ALL DOCTORS,and patients too.and by all the public ..:on HUMANE GROUND..ON MEDICAL GROUND..ON SOCIAL GROUND...ON SPIRITUAL AND RELIGIOUS GROUND..!
Protection of life till the natural moment of death, and good medical practice are the only way forwards..!
